Why is all the previous data gone? Because I accidentally burned a little bit of it.

Update: Always love products with a sense of community. Thanks to @DIYgod and @Songkeys.

The following is the original text, but it's still necessary for you to check out my cool username 😋

It's been a few days, why does it seem like the data has been cleared? The previous followers and reading data are all gone?

This is the data before migration, it's been exactly one month since I came to Xlog! Although I don't know how the page views are calculated, the data shows 24,000 views, and I'm grateful for the 68 followers!

So why the change?#

Because Xlog opened the door to blockchain for me. 🌝

During this time, I occasionally encountered some situations with Xlog that were different from writing regular blogs, such as why writing requires "tokens", why "burn" tokens when deducting, and why the number of "burned" tokens varies?

On the other hand, I also received payments in cryptocurrency, and from an economic perspective, I naturally became curious about the most cost-effective way to transfer funds, why there are so many networks, and why tokens with the same name exist on different networks?

😫 There are too many questions. At first, I only paid attention to the visible numbers and complained about why I had to pay taxes when making money transfers. Then I noticed the concept of "cool usernames", similar to QQ numbers, but blockchain cool usernames belong only to you.

So now you can see that the owner of this blog is:

Calculating cool usernames!#

This is what I calculated on my computer. At that time, I just wanted to test my computing power and set some random rules to try it out. The result was that a wallet address with 9 consecutive 8s appeared in just a few seconds.

At first, I thought: Why is it so easy to calculate Ethereum addresses? Then I started calculating the previous rules, and the fact told me that it would probably take a while to get the result. (I was really lucky this time)

Ethereum addresses have 40 characters, expressed in hexadecimal. Each character has 16 possibilities, and with 9 digits, there are 16^9 combinations, which means a maximum of 68,719,476,736 calculations. Based on my computer's computing power of 1MH/s, it would take about 19 hours.

You might think, well, that's not too bad, right? Maybe I got the result in a few seconds, but I don't have the patience to run my computer for 19 hours 🤪. But what about 10 digits? The difficulty grows exponentially, which means that with a computing power of about 4MH/s, it would take:

Generating ETH Address
Difficulty: 281474976710656
[4.69 Mkey/s][total 5473792][Prob 0.0%][50% in 1.3y]

The program tells me that I have a 50% chance of getting the cool username I want within 1.3 years. So what's the longest possible time?

Based on 1MH/s, it would take 8.9 years.

The difference in computing power is because if the last digit needs to be calculated, regular expressions need to be used, which slows down the speed by a few times, approximately around 1MH/s.

At first, I used my M1 to calculate. Then I thought, if both the 4+4 cores can calculate so much, wouldn't a more powerful machine be faster?

So I found a "beast":

The conclusion is that 32C = 8C, vigorously developing the M chip cool username industry!!

What's the use?#

Take a look at the pictures:

Just like most cool username projects are called "vanity", it does bring a little satisfaction.

Also bought some "domain names"#

It's the .bit domain name that I knew about a long time ago, but at that time, I didn't really believe in blockchain and didn't have spare money to invest in it... But I still ran the interface and got a few:

Combined with cool usernames, it's full of swag:

(How come you have so many fancy things but no money in your wallet?)

What about the previous data?#

Due to decentralization, there may not be a concept of "migration address", so I can only migrate the content I generated myself. The data, comments, and followers from the past month will be lost 🥲

I can only think that it's better to endure short-term pain than long-term pain. Otherwise, what's the use of having such a good address in my hands if no one sees it?!! 😋

iShot_2023-04-21_10.30.23

Just after migrating the articles, there were 126 views, which made me a little happy 😁
